Hello Neighbour

A record built on positive collaboration, not division.

Hello Neighbour, You are visiting my page because you care about Port Moody as much as I do. As a 27 year Port Moody resident, I know Port Moody is an extraordinary city. I love Port Moody - it's my home, it's where I'm proud to raise my two young daughters. This is their hometown when they were born, and it's where I hope they will choose to raise families of their own one day.

For the past 4 years, I'm proud to have brought my values of collaboration, teamwork, and kindness to the council table. You deserve a council guided by nothing less, and it's the only way we can work towards a vision of our future that serves the best interests of the whole community.

I believe there is always more potential to improve the way we do things, and I'm committed to doing the work needed to make Port Moody an even better place to raise a family. I believe in a City Council that listens to its residents and PUTS PORT MOODY RESIDENTS FIRST...ALWAYS!

How has Callan Put Port Moody Residents First

In order to achieve anything at the council table, you need to collaborate and have the support of your colleagues. I want to acknowledge them in their support and enhancement of initiatives I have championed and thank them for their positive contributions.

Liveable Port Moody: Family Friendly Units & Minimum Unit Sizes Motions

Callan brought forward to council an interim family friendly units housing policy to ensure that the distribution of Studio, 1, 2, & 3+bd homes in multi-family developments better reflected our communities' housing needs. This interim policy from May 2024 ensures we do not end up with more than 30% studios, and we have a minimum of 35% 2 & 3 bd homes. Additionally, Callan proposed an amendment to our Family Friendly Units Guidelines that after collaborative discussion at the council table, and amendments by fellow colleagues, entrenched minimum unit sizes to meet the BC Housing minimum criteria for all multi-family units. Families need space, and ensuring these units are family sized is key to making Port Moody one of the most liveable communities.

Port Moody Residents First: Exclusive Recreation RegistrationOriginal Motion PASSED UNANIMOUSLY

Callan brought forward the motion to prioritize Port Moody residents in our own recreation programs and facilities by providing early registration. Port Moody residents now get 2 days of advance registration for recreation programs and summer camps before those outside our city. After the 1 year pilot project was complete, there was an overwhelming amount of support from our community to continue and make this benefit permanent.

Real Traffic Solutions: Bridge Widening & St. Johns Improvementsall motions passed Unanimously

Residents have been wanting meaningful action on traffic for decades and I am proud to have championed many traffic improvement initiatives over the last term. My motion to expand the CPKC Overpass near IOCO Rd, combined with existing seismic and resurfacing work to reduce cost for taxpayers, will result in up to 40% reduced travel time between Moray and Suter Brook Village.

Fiscal Responsibility: Spending Your Tax Dollars Wisely

Callan has been a fiscal responsibility champion since being elected. From shifting the boat launch to 100% user funding (saving $125,000 per year) to voting against the Inlet Firehall Boiler Replacement (a $687,000 savings for the community, when the existing boiler had decades of useful life left), Callan brings forward joint motions with colleagues to increase revenues and cut waste.
